Summer Garden Plans

I made an order from www.Gurneys.com for our plants for our garden. They had a coupon in there that expires tomorrow.

We are getting:

Green Beans
Spinach
Carrots
Lettuce Blend
Garlic
Yellow Onions
radishes
edamame
canteloupe
watermelon
peas
sunflowers
cosmos
daisies

We also always plant sweet corn, tomatoes, Kennebec potatoes, and we have a strawberry bed. Last year I started some purple asparagus.

I hope to do more freezing and preserving this year than in previous years.

Thinking of all this fresh produce to come is making me hungry!

  1. We started thinking about garden plans last night too - I did a lot of canning and freezing last year and I hope to do LOTS more this year - it's been a nice relief on our grocery bills...

  2. Not only a relief on the grocery bills - but it sure feels great to sit down to a meal:

    For example:
    cubed steak
    mashed potatoes and gravy
    green beans
    fruit pie

Knowing that everything you're eating you produced yourself! (okay...I don't grind flour or make butter...eventually I want to keep chickens for eggs and the freezer) but still, when it happens it's a good feeling!
