The guys spent the most part of the week hauling manure: scooping it out of cattle stables and spreading it on fields as fertilizer.
This job must be done prior to planting. Here in the distance you can see the tractor and spreader across from the pasture in the bottoms field.
After the manure is cleaned out, clean straw is added back in.
It makes a comfy place for the cattle to lie down!

Later, in the river bottoms field the drifted in bean stalks from last year were burned off to make a nice seedbed for this spring's corn.
Daddy's apprentice is thrilled to help with the fire!
